“Pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. Inc. is being sued in the United States and Canada by young men who say the drug finasteride, widely prescribed to fight male hair loss, left them with permanent sexual dysfunction after they quit taking it.
They allege that Merck has long known that sexual side effects can persist and that the company even added a warning to product labeling in some European countries – but not in the U.S. or Canada.
“Neither the [men] nor their physicians had received adequate warning about the risk of injury,” says the complaint filed last month in federal court in Camden by South Jersey lawyer Alan Milstein.”
